What is Qigong?
Qigong is an ancient healing art form with roots dating back over 5,000 years. In simplest terms, it is moving meditation that helps nourish, cultivate, and protect one's Qi (life force energy). Qigong practice can include a mix of gentle movements, mantra, mudras, focused breathing, and visualizations.
Tree Star Qigong leads season-based Qi classes, providing an opportunity to sync deeper with the nature around us. In addition to activating our Qi through specific movements, classes also offer insights to Daoist philosophy. These practical tips will further enhance your Qi through the seasons, and may include five element theory, nutrition, daily practices, and key feng shui elements.
I look forward to sharing this powerful, yet gentle, practice with you.
“Water is fluid, soft, and yielding. But water will wear away rock, which is rigid and cannot yield. As a rule, whatever is fluid, soft, and yielding will overcome whatever is rigid and hard. This is another paradox: what is soft is strong.”
― Lao Tzu

Background
I first experienced Qigong in 2014 when I began to study TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) in Portland, OR. What started out as an elective class on the path to become an acupuncturist would turn into my main interest. I shifted my focus more toward Qigong after I was in a car accident resulting in back and neck injuries midway through my TCM masters program. I had a feeling, even all those years ago, that Qigong was going to become a foundational aspect of my life.
I have always found sanctuary in nature, and through the past decade of practicing Qigong, I feel an even deeper connection to the seasons, cosmos, and elements. I am grateful for my teacher, Master Liu He, for her deep lived wisdom of this most ancient form of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Practicing Qigong in the mountains, or along the sparkling shores of a beautiful lake, truly brings one's practice alive.
I look forward to meeting you out there ~
